We describe a series of patients with orbital blowout fractures that were repaired using porous polyethylene (Medpor) sheets. Methods: A non-comparative interventional case series is described of 30 blowout fractures of 30 patients aged 7-60 years (median 29 years) who underwent orbital blowout fracture repair with Medpor sheets.

In cases where the entire floor is absent and no medial and or lateral edge exists to support the Medpor sheet, a Synthes titanium orbital floor implant (Synthes (USA), Paoli, PA, USA) or a Medpor Titan implant can be positioned over the defect and fixed rigidly to the orbital rim.

Applications for Use: These shapes are designed for use after standard enucleation or evisceration One of our oculoplastics providers previously performed an orbital floor fracture blowout repair. The patient is now having a medpor graft placed under the previous repair to improve enophthalmia. The bone is not being drilled and the previous graft is not being removed. We describe a series of patients with orbital blowout fractures that were repaired using porous polyethylene (Medpor) sheets. Methods A non-comparative interventional case series is described of 30 Medpor sheet in situ covering orital floor defect. A Supramid sheet and Sewell retractors are being used to retract the orbital soft tissues out of the fracture site. Conclusions The study suggests that in orbital blowout fracture repair Medpor implants are safe and effective with few complications. RESULTS: Endoscopic surgery is performed quickly allowing a disappearance of enophthalmos and diplopia. All patients underwent a reconstruction of the orbital floor with a Medpor implant fixed by miniplates without complications. PMID: 26749604 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE] Publication Types: Case Reports; English Abstract; MeSH Terms. Adult tive differences were statistically significant. Complications of orbital blowout fractures should be treated early via surgery.

The MEDPOR TITAN Orbital Floor and Wall (OFW) Implants are designed to fit the orbital floor and medial wall. Anterior and medial titanium plates extending from the MEDPOR TITAN framework allow fixation inside or outside the orbit (or to the orbital rim and/or nasal bone). Available with or without a BARRIER. U.S. Patent #7,655,047
